It's a new year and we all look forward for new possibilities and changes. The first major change is that our CoD team is no more. Below is a small statement from the team Captain Conney "KyoChi" Sjöberg.

We’ve been battling with finding suitable players for our team since the ”eXperience” LAN.
Without finding a solution for this we will be splitting up, Isak going wherever the winds takes him (probably to the world of Azeroth) and Kalle will be joining me over at team fnatic.
I’d like to thank the whole of Begrip, it has really been a pleasant time, especially individ, who’s an awesome guy! I also wish Begrip a successful 2009, go kick some ass!

Big thanks from Begrip to all the guys for our time together and good luck in the future.

KarjeN wins Dreamhack Winter 2008!

Both KarjeN and JWH were attending Dreamhack Winter 2008 in Jönköping this weekend and it was a great success! This Dreamhack edition was the first to have Trackmania Nations recognized as an official discipline. This attracted a handful of skilled players, such as ESWC 2008 Champion n!Seasonic.Frostbeule and making a comeback in the scene Dignitas/MadnesS. The cash prize purse consisted out of 20000SEK!

Regulations

The tournament was completely filled up with 128 players signed up! Making it the largest LAN tournament in Dreamhack so far? The matches would be played on the newest ESWC Regulations for this season, which uses the newly added game mode ‘Cup’. Matches are still played 1v1v1v1 but with Cup mode it adds some more tension and excitement especially for the spectators point of view. It’s still based on driving in Rounds from start to finish and getting points rewarded from your position in the lap. However the game does not end after 3 maps, when 40 points are reached on each, but goes on till the top3 has finished playing! Every 5 rounds there will be a track switch and the points are carried through from the previous tracks. This goes on till a player reaches the point limit where he becomes a ‘Finalist’. Once you are a Finalist you need to WIN one more round to assure victory. However if you do not manage to win any round being a finalist, other players can come back and steal the victory. Once a player becomes a winner, he does not have to play anymore and the match is down to 3, and in the end 2 players. In the later stages of the tournament the point limit will be 120, where points are distributed each round being 10, 6, 4, 3.

Playoffs Rundown

JWH got pushed into the Lower Bracket in the Winner Bracket Semi Finals where he got 3rd in a direct duel with

KarjeN and

Dignitas/MadneSS.

KarjeN breezed through easily and got 2nd in the Winner Bracket finals in a close match with

n!Seasonic.Frostbeule. By getting into the finals by Winner Bracket, the 2 players will get awarded with 10 points to start with in the finals.

JWH got into the Lower Bracket finals where he faced

SeS.Ekeen and

Dignitas/MadneSS. It was a great fight where

JWH got in 2nd place and got into the finals! This means there are 2 Begrip Trackmania players in the final which means we are sure to grab a podium finish!

The Finals

In the final it was a fight between

n!Seasonic.Frostbeule and

Karjen for the 1st place and

SeS.Ekeen and

JWH for the 3rd.

n!Seasonic.Frostbeule took quite a comfortable lead at one point and was looking to cruise to victory. However

Karjen worked on a major comeback and won 5 straight rounds in a row becoming the Dreamhack Winter 2008 Champion!

SeS.Ekeen also got a lead over

JWH for the 3rd place but

JWH started working on a comeback as well, but sadly it wouldn’t pay off. Coming just 2 points short for a 3rd place finish.
